Fuel Good Day Raises $60,000 in Donations
November 15, 2018

On September 18 2018, Red River Co-op members and customers supported Fuel Good Day by fuelling up at Red River Co-op gas bars. Red River Co-op pledged to donate 5-cents of every litre sold that day to Siloam Mission, with a portion going to Inclusion Selkirk (formerly Community Living Selkirk). The results of Fuel Good Day have been tabulated and Red River Co-op is thrilled to announce that $60,000 was raised thanks to Red River Co-op members and customers.

“We thank our members and customers who came out in droves to fuel up and support these important organizations,” said Doug Wiebe, CEO of Red River Co-op. “The staff and volunteers at Siloam Mission and Inclusion Selkirk work tirelessly to better the lives of people in our communities and we are proud to make this donation so they can continue to do the great work they do, evolve and expand their services.”

Red River Co-op grew their presence in Selkirk with the opening of a food store this summer, and selected Inclusion Selkirk as the recipient of $10,000 from Fuel Good Day for their dedication to the full inclusion of people of all ages living with an intellectual disability through learning, working, living and building connections.

“Inclusion Selkirk is thankful for the contribution from Fuel Good Day,” said Maria Freeman, Executive Director of Inclusion Selkirk. “The funds will be utilized to assist with renovations at one of our locations to create a more accessible environment for people using our business and services.”

Siloam Mission is a long-time partner of Red River Co-op for the important work they do offering programs and services free of charge, with dignity and respect and without discrimination, to hundreds of people every day who need a helping hand. Red River Co-op has donated $50,000 from Fuel Good Day to Siloam Mission.

“We are thrilled with the response from people who filled up on Fuel Good Day and very appreciative of everyone at Red River Co-op. This generous donation will help provide a hand up to those in our community experiencing poverty and homelessness, and help vulnerable people reach their full potential. We are inspired by your thoughtfulness,” said Siloam Mission CEO, Jim Bell.
