United for Ukraine
June 8, 2022

Starting Wednesday, June 8, Red River Co-op is providing an avenue for our members and customers to support Ukrainian refugees in Manitoba by taking donations at the till for our United for Ukraine gift card program. All Red River Co-op food stores and gas bar locations will be accepting donations that will go towards providing Co-op gift cards to families settling in Manitoba to help them access their food, fuel and pharmacy needs. This program is in partnership with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC), a local volunteer-run organization that is supporting the Ukrainian refugees landing in Winnipeg.

In addition to donating $6,000 to help ship humanitarian aid to Ukraine, on May 13th, Red River Co-op also donated $10,000 in Co-op gift cards to kick-start this campaign.

“These Co-op gift cards will provide some stability for the refugees coming to Manitoba, getting them set up with food, pharmacy and fuel needs.” – Joanne Lewandosky, President of the Manitoba Chapter of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.

“We know how passionate our members and customers are to help Ukraine. We wanted to create an easy way for our members and customers to support the humanitarian efforts of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress in our community."– said Doug Wiebe, CEO of Red River Co-op.
