Anyone Can Now Fuel Up at Anytime!
We’ve expanded access at two of our cardlock locations, Redonda and McGillivray. These locations are now EMV-enabled, meaning you can fuel up using your debit or credit card, and will no longer need a Co-op fuel card.
Whether you're a commercial driver, a small business operator, or simply passing through, our secure and convenient cardlocks are now more accessible than ever.

EMV-enabled cardlocks accept:
- Interac Debit

- Mastercard
- Corporate Credit Cards
A Co-op fuel card is no longer required to access these locations, just tap or insert your card and follow the on-screen instructions.

What is a Cardlock?
A cardlock is an unattended fuel station, designed for quick and efficient fueling. Unlike traditional gas bars, cardlocks do not have on-site staff or convenience stores (except for our Redonda location). They are built for high-clearance vehicles and fleet fueling, but with EMV access, they are now an option for the general public as well.
Key features:
- Open 24/7
- Designed for commercial use, but accessible to all
- Fast, self-serve fueling
- Safety features and surveillance on-site

How to Fuel at an EMV Cardlock
All first-time users at an EMV-enabled cardlock must complete a brief safety orientation. This is required under provincial regulations for self-serve, unattended fueling.
Step 1: Safety Training & Fuel Code
- Tap or insert your debit/credit card at the terminal
- Complete the 2-minute safety module
Upon completion, you’ll receive a printed Fuel Code
This code is:
- Valid for 12 months
- Specific to the card and location used
- Required every time you fuel at that location with that card
Note: You will need to repeat the safety training if you use a different card or visit another EMV-enabled location.
Step 2: Fueling
Tap Mode (Recommended):
- Tap your card
- Enter your Fuel Code
- Select pump and fuel type
- Begin fueling
- Tap again if you’d like a printed receipt
Tap mode pre-authorizes $250. You will only be charged for the actual fuel dispensed.
Card Insert Mode (Pre-set Fill):
- Insert your card
- Select a maximum dollar amount
- Complete the Fuel Code step
- Begin fueling
To help prevent overfilling, the system may shut off slightly before the maximum selected amount. You will only be charged for the volume dispensed.
